+ Click to read moreIn a heartfelt effort to strengthen and empower families within our faith community, several parishes across the Diocese have recently hosted the Celebrating Family program—a series of events filled with prayer, learning, and joyful fellowship.
The journey began at St. Mary’s Church, Madulkele, on the 22nd and 23rd of February 2025, where families came together to explore the blessings and challenges of family life in light of Christian values. This was followed by a vibrant gathering at St. Andrew’s Church, Nawalapitiya, on the 15th and 16th of March, where participants engaged in sessions that encouraged open dialogue, mutual support, and practical tools for nurturing relationships at home.
Later in March, the Celebrating Family program was welcomed by the Church of the Living Christ, Talawa, on the 28th and 29th, continuing the theme of holistic family enrichment through scripture-based reflections, interactive activities, and group discussions.
The series culminated in a special Family Camp, organized by the House Church in Mawathagama on the 11th of May 2025. This day of fellowship provided a refreshing space for families to bond through shared worship, hands-on tutorials, and faith-centered games—bringing joy and renewal to all who attended.
Each of these gatherings featured a rich blend of lessons, creative activities, and meaningful tutorials designed to deepen family ties and strengthen spiritual foundations. We offer our sincere thanks to the organising teams, dedicated lay staff, and clergy whose commitment and guidance made these events possible.
As a Church, we remain committed to walking alongside families in every season of life, equipping them to thrive in faith, love, and service.
Looking Ahead: We are pleased to share that future Celebrating Family programs are being planned in other parts of the Diocese. We invite all families to stay connected—please keep in touch with your local parish or contact your parish priest for more information on upcoming opportunities.
But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15)
